My names is James Nideffer, I am an operating room RN in La Jolla, California. I created this site for nurses, surgical technicians, medical students, and anyone else interested in becoming familiar with surgical instruments.
There are thousands of different surgical instruments which can be overwhelming for anyone new to the operating room. The purpose of this site is to teach you the basic instruments you need to know for your first day in surgery. The instruments are divided into categories, so whether you are repairing an ankle fracture or placing a cardiac pacemaker, you will be ready to scrub in.
